Our latest innovation for the business buying process

Our EtA PitchRef evaluation helps searchers see their blind spots—and helps investors, lenders, and owners see better–prepared searchers.

Across countless conversations with searchers, operators, lenders, investors, and educators in the EtA community over the last decade, one theme keeps coming up:

We underestimate how much the story matters.

Not just the search model, the TAM, or the EBITDA, but how a searcher explains who they are, why EtA, and why this path makes sense for them—and whether that narrative lands the way we want with the people across the table.

Right now, most entrepreneurs learn this the hard way.

Searchers often spend months refining a PPM or deck, traveling to conferences, and taking every coffee meeting they can…only to walk away from key conversations with a vague sense that “something didn’t quite land,” but no clear language for where, what, or how to fix it.

When the story is fuzzy, generic, or the pieces don’t quite fit together, it makes the process harder for everyone:

  • Searchers burn time, effort, money, and confidence trying to sort it out through trial and error in front of potential investors, lenders, and sellers.
  • Lenders and investors used to have the time (and patience) to follow searchers through a long, trial–and–error learning curve. In today’s more competitive market, they have far less capacity for fumbling here and would rather spend their limited attention getting to know a searcher’s character and CEO skills.
  • For under–represented entrepreneurs, the process can feel even harder—and the stakes higher—because there’s a sense of a lot less room for error.

Today, I’m proud to share an innovation that tackles this issue head–on:

ETA PitchRef evaluation

A proprietary, evidence–based, AI–enhanced narrative evaluation system built specifically for acquisition entrepreneurs.

It’s built on ten years of my work listening to and mentoring entrepreneurs in this ecosystem, combined with an EtA–specific dataset and a structured rubric. For many searchers, going through an ETA PitchRef lab could be the difference between:

  • getting funded or not,
  • getting funded this year instead of “probably next year,” and
  • walking into key meetings wondering if you’re ready versus walking in knowing where you’re strong and where to focus next.

What the ETA PitchRef Evaluation Is (and Isn’t)

The ETA PitchRef evaluation system is designed to answer a simple but central question:

“How is this searcher’s narrative landing with the people who matter?”

It combines:

  • Pattern recognition from VAULT’s thousands of EtA–specific videos, including investor sessions, lender conversations, seller discussions, and post–acquisition CEO stories, and
  • Structured human feedback based on a multi–part, evidence–based rubric designed for EtA.

To be clear: it does not write anyone’s pitch for them. Using my experience in this space and the data within VAULT, we interpret your narrative in a structured and rigorous manner against real patterns in this ecosystem.

You still have to do the work—but now you can focus on doing it effectively and efficiently.

What You Walk Away With

The ETA PitchRef report offers a clear, structured mirror so that:

  • Searchers can see their strengths and blind spots earlier.
  • Capital and debt providers encounter better–prepared searchers.

In an ETA PitchRef session, a searcher:

  • Shares a 2–5 minute draft pitch,
  • Receives on–the–spot feedback, and
  • Receives a written report benchmarked against our data, with practical suggested next steps.

Instead of guessing, you see—on the page—how your narrative is likely landing now, and exactly where you might focus next. That can mean fewer wasted meetings, a shorter and less painful funding timeline, and a clearer sense of whether you’re truly ready to pursue a search in the way you imagine.

Who It’s For
