No Scripts. Strategy First.

Why My EtA Approach Is Different—and MAKES A DIFFERENCE.

If you ask me for a cold-email template or a word-for-word call script, you’ll probably hear me say:
I don’t do scripts.

Not because I’m withholding. Because scripts are someone else’s words, from someone else’s context, in someone else’s market—and they age fast in acquisition entrepreneurship.
Investors, lenders, and business owners can tell the difference between acting like an entrepreneur and being one.
What gets real traction is strategic clarity, a prioritized plan you’ll actually execute, and feedback loops that help you adjust in the real world.

What “strategy-first, no scripts” means

  • We make the right decisions first. Should you be an entrepreneur? Is acquisition entrepreneurship right for you? Self-funded or investor-backed? Which industry thesis fits your skills and constraints? What’s your target profile—and your no-go rules?
  • We co-create a plan you can own. Set two to three priorities per week, or a 30–90 day (or your “365 day”) arc. We provide training and checklists that fit a working professional’s life.
  • We turn learning into momentum. You test, we review, you adapt—so your voice stays authentic and your conversations get better.

What changes when you work this way

  • Clarity: You stop chasing shiny objects and start moving on the few things that matter.
  • Focus: You know what to do this week and what “good” and “good enough” look like.
  • Momentum: You meet the right people and the conversations become substantive—propelling you forward.

Two anonymized snapshots

These are anonymized snapshots from two Fellows. Notice the pattern: strategy → plan → traction.

From noise to new opportunities
  • Who: Mid-career professional who began a self-funded search before joining the ETA Hub; felt frustrated and stalled by setbacks.
  • Strategic focus:
    • Clarified an industry thesis and target profile aligned with skills and constraints.
    • Re-centered on personal goals and decision criteria (burn the boats vs. hedge).
  • Plan:
    • Apply Session 1 insights to outreach; prioritize owners, brokers, and capital partners.
    • Commit to a 30-day cadence of meetings (owners, advisors, lenders) and relevant conferences.
  • Traction:
    • Shifted to higher-caliber conversations; meetings with owners in the target space.
    • Began building relationships with local and national bankers; mapped lender “sweet spots.”
    • Received an entrepreneurial role offer; evaluating structure and fit (considering EIR/equity rather than employment).
  • Timeframe: Notable momentum within 3–4 weeks of graduation.
  • Results: “I feel energized and ready. I’m finally meeting the right people—and the conversations are like night and day.”
From chasing to choosing
  • Who: Recent MBA graduate exploring EtA.
  • Strategic focus:
    • Is acquisition entrepreneurship the right path?
    • How receptive is the traditional search fund model to candidates like him?
  • Plan:
    • Boost profile in the entrepreneurial community.
    • Attend key conferences.
  • Traction:
    • Decided to create a startup after following a suggestion from Session 3.
    • The startup has momentum and is serving a real need not available elsewhere.
  • Timeframe: Started during the 90-day program; ongoing today.
  • Results: “I thought I needed a better pitch. What I needed was direction. The process made it obvious—and was transformational: I’m meant to build, not buy.”

Why I won’t hand you a script

  • Scripts break quickly. Markets shift, owners differ, and they don’t showcase your unique strengths.
  • Scripts create dependence. You keep asking “What do I say next?” instead of learning to think like an entrepreneur and CEO.
  • Scripts cost you trust. Unless you’re an Oscar-winning actor, people hear the script, not you—and trust erodes.

What I give you instead

  • Entrepreneurial thinking: Decision frameworks you can use and reuse.
  • Current: Up-to-date insights on trends and pattern recognition through our guest mentors.
  • Personalization: Office hours and reviews where we refine your plan and your words—so they sound like you and achieve what you want.

How to tell if this is a fit for you

  • You want repeatable, evidence-based decision tools.
  • You want a plan you’ll follow (even with a family and a full-time job).
  • You want guidance that’s tailored to your situation—not one-size-fits-all templates.

What you’ll leave with in 90 days

  • An investor- or lender-ready 2–5 minute narrative you wrote—and believe.
  • A focused search plan to move at your cadence.
  • Early traction: better conversations with owners, advisors, and capital partners.

If you’re looking for a script, you won’t find it here. If you’re ready to think ahead, act deliberately, and build momentum, that’s all we do.
